Full-time General Assistant - Admin, Packing, Engraving, Frame Making - allsorts!

 

Based in Martley, Worcestershire, BabyRice was created in 2007 and has been growing from strength to strength ever since.  Currently employing a team of 6, this is an exciting opportunity to join our small & friendly team.

 

We are looking for a General Assistant to assist our business in all areas.  This is a very much varied role, requiring a number of skills.  You will be working on different areas of the business throughout the week.  

 

We need an enthusiastic, keen and creative individual with a great eye for detail, who is super-organised, who can work quickly with great accuracy and is efficient in everything they do.  

 

This position requires all manner of skills (training will be given) and there are plenty of opportunities to progress further within the company for the right candidate.

 

Duties are (but are not limited to):

 

Admin Dept

Assisting the admin department, by way of processing orders and despatch labels using an online order/shipment system

Telephone answering

Composing professional replies via email to customer queries (excellent spelling and grammar required)

Calculating quotations for bespoke order enquiries

 

Packing Dept

Packing orders to a high standard (including gift wrapping and tying bows with ribbon) - ensuring all components are present as per the order requirements

Picture / Box Frame making using machinery (training will be given)

Cutting mounts using a computer and CMC machine (training will be given)

Daily Stock checks with the Production Manager

Liaising with the Admin dept to place stock orders

 

Engraving Dept

Engraving of Plaques, Frames, Jewellery and other items using a computer (Coreldraw software) and engraving machine (training will be given)

Creating beautifully presented jewellery and other keepsake items

Polishing and packing orders to a high standard

 

Marketing & Creative Dept

Although not a requirement for this role, it is worth mentioning that if you are full of great & creative ideas then there will be opportunities to assist us within this area too, especially if you have experience in:

Design

Product photography & Image editing

Creative content writing for e-commerce

 

The above mentioned duties are by no means an exhaustive list but it gives an indication of requirements for this newly created job role.

 

You must:

  • Be a real team-player with a happy and positive attitude towards your work colleagues

  • You must be honest, hard working, conscientious and physically able with a 'can do' attitude when asked to perform tasks (including 'never-done-this-before' tasks!)

  • Due to the various job roles, you must be fully adaptable and willing to learn new skills

  • Have excellent computer skills with a great knowledge of MS Office - Word, Excel and Internet

  • English and Maths to at least GCSE or O level standard

  • Have some previous experience with a computer ‘drawing’ package such as Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator

  • Have an excellent and confident telephone manner

  • Have a keen eye for detail - being a true ‘perfectionist’ with your work output

  • Possess a proven track record of excellent timekeeping and attendance in previous employment/college/university

 

The following additional skills would be considered as beneficial for this role:

  • Forklift licence

  • Previous experience of production control, stock check and ordering

  • Have worked for a small business or has been part of a small working team in the past

 

For ages 21 and over, the starting pay for this role is £7.80 per hour, rising to £8.80 per hour once fully trained and competent within our Engraving Department.

For ages 18-20, the starting pay is £5.90 per hour, rising to £6.90 per hour once fully trained and competent within our Engraving Department.

As previously mentioned, this is a great opportunity to progress further within our company.  We are looking for a person with the ability to learn and possess the skills needed for most aspects of our business.

 

Working week:  Mon-Fri, 8.30am-5pm

28 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays

This new position is available for an immediate start and will be on a trial basis for the initial 3 months.

 

An aptitude test will be required for the short-listed candidates - testing computer skills/knowledge, word processing and practical capabilities.
