Parts 1 and 2 of this video were filmed at the National Tramway Museum, Crich on the 16th September 2012. This event commemorated the 50th anniversary of the closure of the Glasgow tramway system in September 1962. Glasgow had one of the largest tramway systems in the UK and was the last 'big city' system to survive. This did mean that a substantial number of Glasgow trams survived and Crich museum is home to 6 of them. Four of these trams were in service on the 16th September and one other was on static display, part 1 shows the Glasgow trams in action on the museum line. The 16th September was also an enthusiasts day and part 2 features trams from Blackpool, Sheffield, London, Southampton, Cardiff and Berlin that were also in service. Part 3 features some archive film of Glasgow trams at Crich plus a sequence filmed at the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire which runs a former Glasgow tram on its tram line. There is also a slide show of other Glasgow trams that are preserved plus some archive pictures from 1962 when the system was in its last days. Wide screen PAL UK system, total running time 68 minutes. No commentary, subtitles, enjoy the sights and sounds of Glasgow trams in action.
