Metro Tenerife opened line 1 from Santa Cruz to La Laguna in June 2007, line 2 to Tincer and La Cuesta followed in 2009. This video follows the route of line 1 from the Intercambiador terminus in Santa Cruz up to La Laguna plus scenes from line 2. Although the 12.5 km. line is almost all street running, it is totally segregated from road traffic throughout. There are 3 tunnels, 2 of which have the branches to line 2 inside them, the 3rd tunnel is in La Laguna under a road intersection. There are 26 Alstom Citadis 5 section trams to provide the service. This chapter was filmed between 2007 and 2017 when the line celebrated it's 10th anniversary. Part 2 of the video is of buses on Tenerife. Almost all the bus services on Tenerife are provided by Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife SA (TITSA) which has a modern fleet of about 550 buses. Chassis are mainly supplied by MAN & Scania, together with Van Hool integral buses, bodywork mainly from Castrosua. This video shows a variety of buses at various locations including Santa Cruz, La Laguna and Los Cristianos. Part 3 is film of the Mount Teide cable car, Mt. Teide at 3718 metres (12198 ft.) above sea level, the highest mountain in Spain. The cable car service started in 1971 after a 9 year construction period, the line was modernised in 1999 with new cars which were in turn replaced in 2009. The views from the line are spectacular, particularly from the summit.This chapter was filmed between 2004 and 2013 and shows both 2nd generation and 3rd generation cars in service.
