This is a small bible, (about 8 inches by 5 inches and two inches thick) published for the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge by John Parker, University Printer, in 1839. The cover is a brown hard cover, with the usual SPCK engraving. The front cover is detached, but the rest of the bible is secure. On the front flyleaf there is a partial inscription which looks like 'February, She went away on 17' Which is not clear what it means. On the title page there is an inscription written between the lines which reads, 'Mary Badnell from Mr Howman' On the reverse of the title page are five entries in the same hand of children born from 1864 to 1872, and one for a Susan in 1838. I have looked in Ancestry and this appears to be the Richard and Susan Badnell family from Cookham. Maidenhead. Apart from the detached front cover this is a nice personal bible, that belonged to one particular woman, and has her writing in it.
