The flyleaf records that it is the bible of Elizabeth Bainbridge in 1864 in Durham. Then there are three pages of births marriages and deaths. The bible's front cover is detached and the rear cover is quite loose, but all the pages are intact and bound together. The cover, which was embossed, has worn from black all over to a mottled brown in most place, but you can see how it was black. It was published in 1864, so Elizabeth, perhaps the butcher's wife, had it new.
