Stephen Hawkins was born in Surrey in 1964. As a child, Stephen combined an enthusiasm for horses with a love of drawing. He soon displayed a natural artistic ability which led him to produce equestrian and countryside paintings using a variety of mediums.
Around 20 years ago Stephen moved to Sussex, since he has concentrated on landscapes, mainly of the South Downs and Sussex. He captures the subtle changes of light and shade, throughout the seasons. Stephen includes sheep, cattle and horses into many of his landscapes which helps express the peaceful atmosphere of modern day Downland life.
His paintings have been exhibited at the Royal Society of Equestrian Artists and at various exhibitions around England. Stephen's work is now highly collectable and sells regularly from galleries across the UK and USA.
