There will be two GREAT Cooking Competitions at the Gower Chilli Festival in 2017

The Gower Chilli Cookoff and the Gower BBQ Championship

1) The GREAT GOWER CHILLI COOKOFF 

The 2017 Gower Chilli Cookoff will be held on the Saturday. There will be a £250 first prize with 2nd and 3rd place runners up prizes. 

We have aligned our cookoff event with the UK Chilli Cookoff Association and the winner of the Gower Chillis Cookoff will get the chance to cook in the UKCCA Final.  The competition judging will be led by the UKCCA.

In order to enter the Cookoff, competitors simply need to pay on this site at the Chilli Shop and then full details will be posted to you ahead of the festival.

IMPORTANT: All entrants who compete need to bring everything they need to produce their 1 Gallon (8 pints) of Chilli (some for submitting and some for the public tasting)i.e. ingredients, utensils, tables, pots/pans, charcoal brazier / gas fire / BBQ and a weather proof canopy!

2) GOWER BBQ CHAMPIONSHIPS

Who will be the King or Queen of the BBQ Grill? The idea of the competition is to cook ‘slo-n-lo’ for a melt in the mouth taste sensation;  There will be BBQ themed prizes for the winner(s), 2nd and 3rd.

If Chilli is not your thing but BBQing is, why not fire up the charcoal and baste up your ribs, chicken and brisket!

This competition is different in style to the Cookoff; there are proposed to be three rounds (final rules will be published near to the event).  There will be a £250 first prize.

1) 1/2 a BBQ Chicken

2) Rack of Pork Ribs

3) Freestyle, beef brisket or ribs, seafood (fish, shellfish), vegetarian etc

Points will be awarded for each category served at intervals; points will be added up and the ‘Gower BBQ Champion’ crowned. 

All meat must be cooked on the day but you can cook for as long as you like on the BBQ from Midnight on the Saturday of the Festival;

You can however prepare your raw meats by cold smoking, basting, brining, marinading etc.
