Franz-Georg Rössler was born in 1949 in Ruppertsberg. First music lessons by Oskar Frey. Attended the Humanistische Gymnasium (classical secondary school) in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, from where he graduated in 1968. Studies at the church music institute of the diocese of Speyer.
Studies of school music at the university for music and theatre Heidelberg-Mannheim, studies of geography at the university of Mannheim, Composition classes under Hans Vogt. Since 1977 Rössler has worked as a teacher at the secondary school Nikolaus- von-Weis-Gymnasium in Speyer.
Up to now, Rössler has composed mostly choir, chamber and organ music, without showing distinct preference for a certain stylistic direction. In addition to his work as a composer, he also works in the fields of literature and musicology, and does translations into the international language Esperanto.
