Jim's Reel Shop Service ABU-Garcia, Akios, Daiwa, Mitchell & Penn and many other brands of reels 

Reel servicing at Jim's Reel Shop comprises of a total parts breakdown. Reels are broken down to their components. All parts are degreased and ultrasonically cleaned to remove all contaminants from internal and external surfaces. This is the only method we are able to inspect reels properly. After a parts inspection all defective parts are replaced with genuine Mitchell or Abu-Garcia parts and then tested. After satisfactory testing reels are lubricated with top quality oils and greases. Our telephone number is 07523142760 if you wish to know more about our reel servicing.

We do our best to offer efficient reel servicing. We are able to do this as we have many thousands of parts in stock.  The price for a complete breakdown and overhaul including any repairs is £19.99 (not including parts and postage, these are extra)

Please send your reels with a note including your name, postal address, contact telephone numbers along with a brief description of any known faults. No need to send any payment, we will invoice you at the end of the servicing. Please send your reels well packed to:-

Our reel servicing terms and conditions:

1/ By sending your reels in for repair, you have agreed to our terms & conditions.

2/ We repair Abu-Garcia, Daiwa, Shimano, Penn and Mitchell fishing reels, if parts are available from the manufacturer, to repair them. Parts are no longer available from Pure Fishing U.K, the owners of the ABU, Shakespeare, Mitchell and Penn brands.  So sometimes there is a wait of 4-20 weeks for parts delivery, if we can source them.


We have an inventory of over 30,000 parts for servicing the French manufactured Mitchell models up to 1990 and many of the ABU Ambassadeur & Penn reels. If we do not have the part in stock we will try and acquire it for servicing. It is impossible to keep every part in stock.

3/ If cost is an issue; reel repair/service pricing estimates can be given, before commencement of repairs if requested by the customer. Otherwise we will repair the reel and seek payment. If a customer decides against a repair the reel will only be returned to the customer, once a fee of £20.00 has been paid to cover the cleaning and also the return postage. These fees will have to be paid before release of goods.  Please bare in mind in some circumstances it is cheaper to buy a NEW reel.

4/ If you wish to retain your line/braid please remove from your reel(s) before posting as we strip, degrease and ultrasonically clean a reel in order to inspect it and the internal parts.

5/ All reels will be returned using Royal Mail "recorded" or "Special next-day delivery", paid for by the customer. We also use Collect Plus courier if agreed by the customer.

6/ Reel servicing can be paid for by debit or credit card over the telephone through our Worldpay terminal. Cheques are subject to a £10.00 charge and we have to we 10 days for clearance.

7/ We have every right to refuse to repair certain models of reels.

8/ Reels are released once paid for in full.

9/All reels not paid for WITHIN THIRTY DAYS will become the property of Jim's Reel  Shop and will be disposed of, how we see fit, to recoup the time and money we have spent on them!
