Celery
We offer you three types of celery: leaf (found in our herb section), trenching and self blanching. The more usual trench type needs to be blanched by using a collar or earthing up and they reward you for your trouble with vigour, colour and hardiness. Self blanching types can be planted in blocks and do not need collars or trenches. Both sorts are better started indoors or under glass in seed trays from mid April and can be eaten raw or cooked.

A lovely dark green hybrid, with excellent vigour, producing tall sticks in a tight bunch. These have a sweet flavour, making it a particularly good salad celery that can also be used in your cooking. Price for 50 seeds

Featuring bright green leaves and stems this upright celery will make an impact in the garden and kitchen.  The stems are broad, thick and richly flavoured.  We like them as a green stem but if you prefer you can blanche them for a paler appearance.

There is so much more to this variety than soup although it does indeed make a very tasty soup. ‘soup’ or ‘cutting’ celery also make great baby leaf herbs which can be grown on a window sill. A favourite in America, the green stalks are self blanching. It is a very productive variety; the tender, crisp and tasty stalks are ready for cutting in September. It is also disease resistant. Price for 50 seeds

As its name says this heirloom celery grows both tender and crisp!  You can pick individual stalks, or pull up a whole plant, once they reach 25-30cm tall.  There is no need to earth up this variety. Leave to grow and you could be the owner of a Tendercrisp 60-90cm tall & crowned with tasty green leaves.  Perfect for salads or cooking and can crop from spring to autumn frosts.
