Cucumber Ashley

£0.60

Ashley has really nice flavoured fruits that grow up to 20cm long, they are slimmer at the stem end. The plants are both vigorous and productive. If you have ever struggled with downy mildew in wet summers than this variety is the one to try as it is resistant. If you sow under cover then harvesting will be from June. Price for 4 seeds

SOW & GROW: If you are going to grow these undercover you can start the seeds as early as March otherwise start seeds inside in April/early May in individual pots, keep moist (not waterlogged) and warm, ready to start to harden off (over a couple of weeks) once they have 2/3 leaves.    They prefer a sunny and sheltered site; you may need to protect them from wind while they settle in.  Ashley is vigorous and needs a low sturdy trellis, wires or canes (up to 1m in height by 1.5m spread, allow more room undercover).  Keep plants weeded and well-watered.  Mulch if possible, they respond to a mid-season liquid feed too!

EAT: harvest and enjoy from mid-summer to early autumn.
