Allcocks 'GREEN WIZARD', 1930's, Exquisitely and sensitively restored by revered rod maker EDWARD BARDER in 1990 and MINT unused since. 11Ft 3 piece, whole cane butt, split cane middle and top. Original bronzed sliding reel bands and blued brass ferrules. Designed by casting champion and Barbel record holder, F.W.K. Wallis.
Referring to the condition of the rod before restoration, Mr. Barder said in a letter (which details the restoration process and is included in this sale), 'The split cane middle and tip and the whole cane butt were of exceptional quality'. This beautiful rod is a fine testament to the sublime skills of the restorer. It is unique and arguably the ultimate all round rod. It should be noted that Mr. Barder ceased restoration work over 10 years ago.
The green whippings are in Pearsall silk and finished to the finest mirror gloss finish, the cane restained with many coats of green varnish and the original hardwood handle refinished in a darker green varnish. The original mahogany wooden button is retained whilst the beautiful olive wood ferrule stoppers are fashioned using wood from the restorers own tree. Weight approx 12.5 oz.
