Using Mind Maps to study Law

Mind maps aren't just for exams - although they are an extremely efficient revision resource. It's well recognised both empirically and scientifically that mind maps help students to remember information and structure content. However, academic research also shows that using mind maps makes learning more pleasurable, so it's great to use them through-out the academic year.

Here's a video about the theory of mind mapping and how to use mind maps.

And here's one of our popular Facebook posts entitled The 5 Rs Of Law Revision

Start by using them in your preparation for law tutorials.

Mind maps are also a great way to help you plan and write essays, answer problem questions and produce course work. They outline the issues to cover, the important cases with summary ratio, and provide lots of information all on one sheet. This allows you to see numerous issues in the law and draw from various cases in your work. This is more efficient, as you won't need to flick forwards and backwards in books as much - although we strongly advise that you should still read your set texts and use them for reference and for deeper understanding.

In preparing for exams, use Law Mind Maps to write answers to past exam paper questions. We do not recommend cramming for law exams, but if you have to cram for an exam, Law Mind Maps can help.

Moreover writing answers and essays based on the mind maps often helps people to picture all the information in their mind. For many people, the more they write out the mind maps, the more they remember. When sat in law exams they can  picture the mind maps in their head and reproduce the information.

It's important to work with the mind maps and write answers to exam questions based on the mind maps.
