This is a a rear sprocket/brake drum of the type fitted to later (Featherbed and swinging arm) era bikes - fitted with the full width hubs that used wider stud fittings than the earlier cotton reel style hubs. These full width hubs were fitted to Norton singles and twins from approximately 1956/57 and are listed in the 1957 Spare Parts Catalog as item 50245 - of which the second photograph is a scan from that catalog (numbered no 42 on that scan). Note: some of the last Featherbed International models were fitted with these full width hubs, as well as late ES2, Model 19 and Model 50 OHV models
