Aubergine

Aubergine

aubergine_vegtable_seeds_1These need a warm and sheltered spot or the protection of a greenhouse to do well, however, with our warmer summers it may be time to give them a try outside.  You can grow these in much the same way as tomatoes.  Start them indoors in early spring where they can benefit from some warmth, plant them out into a greenhouse bed or they do very well potted on finally to 20cm pots.

A very special variety that is used to produce protected status regional cuisine in the appropriate area of Spain. This region has a high altitude and means this is an aubergine that can do well in cooler weather! It is the result of the selection made by the area’s very own growers characterized by the calyx leaves which almost cover the fruit. The aubergine is dark green, although at times a little purple or black colouring characteristic to this variety may appear. This variety is picked when still immature. Your seeds will be supplied with a regional recipe for you to try. Price for 10 seeds
